My favourite part of Dubai is the extensive range of attractions and activities the city has to offer travellers and locals alike. No matter what your interests are, there are numerous activities and sights to keep you busy and peak your interests every day.
If you’re thinking about travelling to Dubai, we have put together a list of activities and attractions that will interest adventurers, beach bums, and shopaholics.
For the Adventurer
Adrenaline junkies, thrill seekers and outdoor adventurers will feel right at home in Dubai, as the city has a number of heart-stopping rides and attractions that will make your mouth dry from screaming.
motiongate™ DUBAI – a theme park opening later this year – will take you on a journey into the world of film through an array of rides inspired by popular movies. It will be the region’s largest immersive Hollywood-inspired theme park with two fierce rollercoasters – The Green Hornet: High Speed chase and Capitol Bullet Train – for adrenaline junkies who would like a thrill ride that takes you backwards, forwards, and upside down. If theme parks are your cup of tea, buy a theme park pass and visit any time of the year!
For those who would prefer an option even more daring than rollercoasters, there is the option to skydive over The Palm Jumeirah with Skydive Dubai. Strapped to an experienced skydiver if it’s your first time, once you throw yourself out of the helicopter you will freefall over The Palm Jumeriah at approximately 120 miles per hour! Sound like fun?
For the Shopper
Dubai is a shopper’s paradise, as the city is home to numerous swanky shopping malls filled with designer names and fancy eateries. The Dubai Mall is the largest shopping mall in the world (by total area) with a variety of shops for fashionistas, art collectors, and music lovers. However, there is more to Dubai’s shopping scene than luxurious malls.
If you’re a bargain hunter like me, you will be glad to know that there are cheaper shopping venues. Souks (traditional markets) can be found spread out across the city and offer locals and travellers alike a chance to snatch up a bargain or two. The Gold Souk is the best known Souk, and for shoppers interested in investing some cash into jewellery and gold, it’s the perfect place to shop. Foodies will love a trip to the Spice Souk, where spices, herbs, fruit and other deliciously fresh food items are sold. The other Souks include: The Perfume Souk, Textile Souk, Souk Al Bahar, Souk Madinat, and Dubai Mall Souk.
What’s more, for die-hard shoppers, the Dubai Shopping Festival happens once a year and is the largest shopping and entertainment event in the Middle East!
For the Beach Bum
For those who would prefer to step away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai’s city centre, surprisingly there are a number of pristine golden sanded beaches to choose from along Dubai’s glistening coast.
For the beach bums who like to get in on the action, Kite Beach is a sport beach that is favoured by Kite Surfers. Sport fanatics can enjoy a volleyball match, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Outside of the water, there is a skate park, outdoor trampoline, and a park perfect for the kids.
If you prefer to lay down your towel and catch a tan or get a bite to eat with your friends or family, JBR Beach is the spot to be. This beach runs along The Walk promenade and includes a selection of restaurants, juice bars and ice cream stalls.
No matter what tickles your fancy, Dubai is a holiday destination that caters for all. Take your family on a vacation they will enjoy and remember for ever, take them to Dubai!
